What Kind of Pet do you have?
3 Bunnies and 1 dog
About Me:
I helped form a new animal rescue group which is a foster home network. I foster one dog presently and will look to provide temporary housing and healing for fearful dogs for rescue groups that have dogs in need of transition.

My own dog is a mixed breed border collie and is the joy in my life. He helps me care for my 3 bunnies, snoozy, elvy and slipper and is the ease factor in working with my foster dog. My bunnies were hand raised by me and are extremely cuddly and loving.

I love animals and have the need to care for them since they are so helpless in our world. If you have ever spent any time in an animal shelter, you would see what I mean.

Need a home for Sonny

Sonny is one of the Forgotten Friends Rescue Dogs that is presently in foster care. He was tied to a fence at a local business. When the animal control came to get him, they discovered he needed emergency treatment, he had an embedded collar and a tumor on his neck. That and the fact that his bones were showing proved to us that he was surely a forgotten friend. Sonny has learned how to be with other dogs and learned what people are on this earth for, and that they love him and care for him and… Continue

What a great thing you're doing...and I'm sorry about Sammy. I have never heard of prosthetic eyes for dogs! At 3 or 4 years old what a relief they can do something for him.
I rescued Nikita 2 years ago from a shelter (more of a pound) that was shut down one week later for cruelty. She's fearful of people but great with me and so good. I wish I had the room to foster a dog - maybe some day. I volunteered for a while so I know what you mean.
Keep up the good work - I hope Sammy is OK.

I loved David Cassity too. Still play the partridge family albums on a turntable for old time fun.

Sammy is blind because he has detached retners (not sure of spelling) and he was playing in the house and banged his head on the furntiure. After that we discovered his lense became loose. The doctor said that the unprotected eye will eventually cause him pain. This was only 2 weeks ago and so the pain came sooner than he had predicted. He is only 3 or 4 years old, poor boy and he is such a good dog. Both eyes will be replaced with prosthetic (spelling bad). My group's website is Forgottenfriendsoflongisland.org if you want to take a peek at him. Dixie is the dog I am fostering so you can peek at her too and read her story. A friend of mine loves turtles, will have to tell him about yours. Thank you for your kind words. Laura
