The Holidays are upon us and having worked in the pet trade unfortunately we know that many small animals are purchased as gifts for unsuspecting, friends, parents or relatives.Do you know that many of these animals are bopped around in boxes, played with for a day then returned to the store because they do not want them? That alone stinks, but what it does to the animal is cause it a great deal of stress, they often fall sick and you can guess how it goes after that. Here are a couple tips to score the holiday brownie points without stressing out parents or the potential pet in their near future.
If your looking for the "wow" factor buy a cage, food, toys, nessesary supplies for the animal they are considering, a good book on the said pet and a gift certificate to a local pet store for the aproximate amount of the animal. If they decide its not for them it can all be exchanged and everyone is happy. Most importantly no animals are caused any undue suffering (or parents for that matter). If they do decide to get their pet you just allowed them the pleasure of chosing their own pet too!
Good luck and Happy Holidays!
